De familie van Makkum (T)
Het geslacht Andringa van Makkum, uitgestorven in de 19e eeuw, dankt haar naam aan een Andringa-sate te Akkrum. Niet aan de oude sate met die naam (stemnr. 19), maar aan stemnr. 56. Deze ligt aan de overzijde van de Boorn en staat in de 18e eeuw ook als ‘Andringa saete’ bekend.
Het is opmerkelijk dat bij deze sate een stuk miedland hoort, dat achter het land van de ‘oude’ Andringa-sate ligt. Toch lijkt het me onvoorzichtig om op grond hiervan te concluderen dat beide Andringa sates aan weerskanten van de Boorn ooit één geheel vormden. In 1563 is Tyaert Watties (vgl. 83) eigenaar van de sate. Door het huwe-lijk van zijn dochter Anna met Keimpe Sjoerds Wiarda komt deze aan de Wiarda’s. In 1640 staat hij op naam van hun zoon Sjoerd Keimpes Wiarda. Van deze Sjoerd (die in datzelfde jaar testeert) is het bezit overgegaan op de kinderen van zijn – dan al overleden – dochter Antie Sjoerds Wiarda bij Sake Hoites. Het is in dit verband leuk te vermelden dat er nog in 1767 (zie T12) een stuk zilverwerk in de familie is met de inscriptie S:H A:S:W. Van de kinderen van Sake en Antie noemen we: Keimpe Sakes, in 1673 gehuwd met Beits Tierdts; Teth Saekes, de vrouw van Willem Meinderts (Nijdam) en Lipck Saekes, vrouw van Eelke Taeckes. In 1698 is stemnr. 56 voor het grootste deel eigendom van de kinderen van Eelke en Lipck. Nageslacht van de zoon Taecke Eelkes – die van Akkrum naar Makkum verhuisde – bezit nog in 1748 een zevende part van de sate. Bij een verkoop in 1708 en in een inventaris van 1770 vinden we de sate met de naam Andringa genoemd. Dan blijkt tevens dat bij de sate een gestoelte in de kerk hoort.
De familie is katholiek. Sedert de vestiging in Makkum is het beroep veelal wolkammer. In 1748 duikt de achternaam voor het eerst in de familie op en deze wordt sindsdien vrij regelmatig gebruikt.
De family from Makkum (T)
The Andringa-clan living in Makkum, becoming extinct in the 19th century, derived their name from an Andringa estate at Akkrum; not the old estate (vote number 19), but the one at number 56. That one was situated across the Boorn and was also known as ‘Andringa Saete’ in the 18th century.
It is remarkable that a piece of land , laying behind the land of the ‘old’ Andringa estate, belonged to this other estate. It would still be imprudent to come to the conclusion, based on this coincidence, that the two areas on either side of the river Boorn were once one entity. In 1563 Tyaert Watties was the owner of the estate (number 56, see 83). His daughter Anna married Keimpe Sjoerds Wiarda and therefore the Wiarda’s obtained the estate. In 1640 his son Sjoerd Keimpes Wiarda is the owner. From that Sjoerd (he made his will the same year) the properties came to the children of his – already deceased- daughter Antie Sjoerds Wiarda and Sake Hoites. It’s maybe nice to know that in 1767 (see T12) there is still a piece of silverwork in the family with the inscription S:H A:S:W. In 1698 the largest part of vote nmbr. 56 was owned by the children of Eelke and Lipck. Descendants of the son Taecke Eelkes (he himself moved from Akkrum to Makkum) still own a 7th part of the estate in 1748. We find the estate named Andringa mentioned at an auction in 1708 and in an inventory in 1770. It turns out that a family church pew is part of the estate at that time.
The family is of Roman Catholic faith. After settling in Makkum their trade is mostly that of woolcombers. In 1748 the Andringa name first appears in Makkum, and is used regularly since then.
